Ca`Foscari University of Venice
In compliance with the business oriented tradition of Venice, a business school was founded in 1868, a century later recognized as Ca`Foscari University. Nowadays the Departments of Management and Economics are still the main centres of interest both for domestic and international students. The important linguistic Department of Asian and North African Studies together with the Department of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies offer students a variety of about 30 different languages. As Ca`Foscari recognizes the importance of science and technology for the environment and local economy, the Department of Molecular Sciences and Nanosystems and the Department of Environmental Sciences, Informatics and Statistics were also created together with research laboratories. The Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage and the Department of Humanities provide students the culture and skills to preserve and develop the world-wide famous Venice Cultural Heritage. Ca`Foscari, as a modern University, offers students facilities and services such as: the housing office (for students accommodation); 8 canteens; the University sports centre; the placement service; a Radio; a Theatre; an Orchestra and a Choir. Festivals, meetings, workshops and art exhibitions are organized every year together with a number of well-established Summer School programs, including the Ca`Foscari- Harvard Summer School.
The global vision of Ca`Foscari University consists in conjugating high quality research and excellent academic studies in order to contribute to the innovation and development of our Country. Providing the fundamental resources, we promote and guarantee open research activities of professors and students for the purpose of achieving excellence in many disciplines. The publication of scientific studies and results contributes also to an open exchange of ideas and cultural development of our national and international community. World-wide the University pursues every form of international collaboration through the organization and promotion of cultural exchanges, both for students and for academic staff. Moreover, the University is creating a large Cafoscarina community in order to preserve the relationships with the ex-students (alumni) and to increase the value of Ca`Foscari all over the world. The reason why we foster technological progress and knowledge diffusion is to build professional figures with the appropriate competences required by the society. The University enhances also the importance of collaborations with public and private institutions as well as with local or international companies, in order to facilitate the professional and social integration of graduated students in the world of work. Ca`Foscari guarantees equal opportunities so that every student can have access to high-level studies and complete them. Every form of assistance is provided, starting from orientation to tutoring and disabled students services. We promote cultural and sport activities, as well as the importance of didactic projects exclusively managed by students.
