The Universidade Federal de Vicosa (UFV) stands out in national and international scene as a center of excellence in teaching, research and extension activities, ranked as one of the top ten universities in Brazil,. It is internationally recognized for its graduate programs in Phytopathology, Entomology, Plant Physiology, Animal Science, Agricultural Microbiology, Genetics and Breeding, Soils and Plant Nutrition and Food Science and Technology. The UFV is composed of three campuses and offers 67 undergraduate and 38 graduate programs. The institution’s student body is composed of students from over 30 nationalities. Investing in a policy of engagement and dissemination of knowledge, UFV offers opportunities of interchange programs, keeping agreements with nearly 100 institutions from 24 different countries. The UFV also offers a wide infrastructure that includes laboratories, forest reserves, library, sports and leisure areas, restaurants, banks, and medical services. The UFV is located in the state of Minas Gerais in southeastern Brazil. This region, besides having the most developed agriculture of the country, stands out for its industrial development, representing the most important economic region of Brazil.
