Total S.A. is a French multinational integrated oil and gas company founded in 1924 and one of the seven “Supermajor” oil companies in the world.

Total SA explores, develops, produces and markets oil and gas. It is also engaged in trading and shipping of crude oil and petroleum products. The company operates through three segments: Upstream, Refining & Chemicals, Marketing & Services. The Upstream segment includes the activities of the exploration and production of hydrocarbons and the activities of gas and power. The Refining & Chemicals segment includes activities of refining, petrochemicals, fertilizers and specialty chemicals. This segment also includes the activities of oil trading and shipping. The Marketing & Services segment includes the global activities of supply and marketing in the field of petroleum products as well as the activity of New Energies. Total was founded on March 28, 1924 and is headquartered in La defense, France.
