David Barron
David Barron has led emerging technology and new product development efforts in functional roles in marketing, business development, strategic planning and operations management. His professional experience spans multiple industries involving Telecommunications, Media & Entertainment, Consumer Electronics Software, Hardware and Semiconductors. He has extensive experience in the management of corporate alliances, joint ventures and co-development efforts as well as in contributing to due diligence assessments for strategic investments, and M&A.
David Barron is currently a Technology Commercialization Consultant and Startup/Investment Advisor located in the Silicon Valley and is an Executive in Residence with Plug and Play Tech Center.
In recent years, he was Head of Corporate & Business Development at Cable Television Laboratories (a Cable Industry technology consortium) from 2014-2016, where he created and managed partnerships with startups, investment/VC firms and universities to identify innovative technologies and funnel them into CableLabs’ R&D efforts and cable operations worldwide.
From 2005-20013, he was a Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer at Brisbane Digital Consulting Group, where he led cross functional product development teams, performed due diligence efforts for investors and created new business/product strategies for large corporate clients such as Microsoft, Comcast and Cisco as well as a number of technology startups. He also managed the firm’s internal operations and P&L.
Prior experience includes leading a business development and evangelism team at Microsoft, responsible for developing technology and media partnerships, prototypes and cross industry standards consortia for Microsoft‘s TV Platforms division. He also provided subject matter expertise to Microsoft‘s investment and M&A team. He also served as Director of Operations at Americast (a Disney/Telco JV), where he managed relationships with the joint venture partners and internal development teams developing TV set top boxes, video distribution technologies, interactive media formats and original content development. In this role, he also led and participated in purchase and license negotiations for strategic technologies.
Earlier in his career, David Barron was a Technology Licensing Executive at Apple, where he managed licensing efforts for a portfolio of system software technologies and trademarks. In this role, he also negotiated and managed complex licensing and cross platform software development issues on behalf of both Apple and Component Integration Labs (a joint technology development consortium involving leading software companies including Apple, IBM and Novell).
He received a JD from Chicago-Kent College of Law, an MBA from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a BS in Marketing and Computer Science from Ithaca College.
