Paris 13 is member of ‘Sorbonne Paris Cite’, the first parisian Research Higher Education Cluster, laureate of the french IDEX project. It is based in the Northern outskirts of Paris on four campuses and consists of nine departments covering six main fields : arts & humanities ; engineering & technology ; health ; life sciences ; physical sciences ; social sciences ; offering to its about 22000 students more than 200 national diplomas from bachelor degrees to PhDs. Paris 13 is also constantly innovating by developping Learning Center, libraries now opening until 10 pm, podcast classes and makes student housing a priority.
Set up in Seine Saint Denis, a young, dynamic departement of France where talent abounds, our university constantly asserts its role as a social ladder offering the necessary resources for world-class research and professional integration on a par with skills. University Paris 13 places great emphasis on the quality, pluridisciplinarity, originality and applicability of the research work done by teachers and researchers, guaranteeing the same standard in its research units and training courses. Research here focuses on four main disciplines : law (public and private law, political sciences) and Economics (economy and management) – Literature, Humanities and Social Sciences life Sciences (biology, medicine, health). Hard sciences (mathematics, iT, physics, chemistry, engineering sciences). Relying on thirty-two laboratories, half of which are backed by national research organisations (CNRS, INSERM, INRA) and more than half of which are rated A or A+ by the national rating agency (AERES). Like these laboratories, the Phd courses feature a significant european and international dimension. They also offer a range of vocational courses both for careers in the academic sector and in the corporate world. All Phd research and training is coordinated by the Bureau de la recherche et des Etudes Doctorales (BRED), under the supervision of the vice-President of the Scientific council. Lastly, the Service des Relations Europeennes et Internationales (SREI European and international relations department) encourages exchanges between teachers and researchers in several scientific networks of which university Paris 13 is a part. The 2010 Fields Medal, the mathematics equivalent of the Nobel Prize, obtained by Ngo Bao Chau who was a research fellow at the LAGA (Laboratoire Analyse, Geometrie et Applications) from 1995 to 2004, confirms the quality of our research and our culture of diversity. integration of students into the working world has always been a strategic priority.
