Steel Authority of India Limited is an Indian state-owned steel making company based in New Delhi, India. It is a public sector undertaking, owned and operated by the Government of India with an annual turnover of INR 66,267 Crore for fiscal year 2018-19. Incorporated on 24 January 1974, SAIL has 71,021 employees.
Steel Authority of India Ltd. manufactures and markets steel and steel products. The company produces basic and special steel and its allied products for the domestic construction, engineering, power, railway, automotive and defence industries. It also manufactures and sells a broad range of steel products, which includes hot and cold rolled sheets and coils, galvanised sheets, electrical sheets, structurals, railway products, plates, bars and rods, stainless steel and other alloy steels. Steel Authority of India was founded on January 19, 1954 and is headquartered in New Delhi, India.
