Patrick Ryan

Patrick G. Ryan (born 1937/38) is an American billionaire insurance businessman. He is the founder and retired chairman and CEO of Aon Corporation.[2][3] In 2010, he founded Ryan Specialty Group (RSG) as a holding company aimed at providing specialty services to insurance brokers, agents and carriers. RSG’s first subsidiary, ThinkRisk, began business in December 2009 to provide underwriting and claims management services for media, technology, advertising and network security.

• Patrick Ryan is CEO and founder of Chicago based Ryan Specialty Group, a wholesale brokerage and specialty insurance firm.
• His first brokerage, Ryan Insurance, merged with Combined Insurance in 1982 to form Aon, one of the largest insurance firms today.
• He left in 2008 after 41 years as CEO, and founded wholesale brokerage and specialty insurance firm Ryan Specialty Group two years later.
• Ryan and his wife have given nearly $200 million to their alma mater, Northwestern.
• In 2016, he and his wife made a significant charitable donation to AbilityLab, the largest charitable investment in the hospital’s 63-year history.
