Tim Sweeney

Timothy D. Sweeney is an American video game programmer, billionaire businessman and conservationist, known as the founder and CEO of Epic Games, and the creator of the Unreal Engine, a game development tool set.

Tim Sweeney is cofounder and CEO of Cary, North Carolina game developer Epic Games.

The private company is the maker of Fortnite, one of the world’s most popular games, with over 250 million players.

The free-to-play game, released in July 2017, brought in an estimated $2.4 billion in revenue in 2018.

In October 2018, Epic Games raised $1.25 billion in funding from firms like KKR, Kleiner Perkins and Vulcan Capital.

Chinese tech giant Tencent, which bought a 48% stake for $330 million in 2012, is still the largest outside investor.

Epic Games is also the creator of the Unreal Engine, one of the most used game development tool kits for other studios.
