Matt Scott
Matt Scott is CTO of Malong Technologies.
Prior to Malong, Matt worked in Microsoft Research Asia for 8 years in Beijing. He held the position of Senior Development Lead in the Innovation Engineering Group. One of Matt’s key contributions was in leading MSR project “Engkoo,” (large-scale ML/retrieval) to producing two entirely new Microsoft product lines with millions of users in China: Bing Pinyin IME (bing.msn.cn/pinyin) in 2013 and Bing Dictionary (cn.bing.com/dict) in 2010. Under Matt’s watch, Engkoo was the first in Microsoft history to win an Innovation Award from The Wall Street Journal (Hong Kong, 2010) and generated the most traffic of any Microsoft web search product in China (measured 2010-2012). Matt received 32 patent awards from Microsoft and 18 Research Technology Transfer awards (group record) for shipping machine learning, computer vision and NLP research technologies in new releases of Windows, Office and Bing.
Matt has published a dozen scientific research papers in top computer science journals and conferences, such as cover featured articles in the Proceedings of the IEEE and IEEE Computer, and totally published 50+ patents in the US, Europe and China. His work has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Popular Science and Engadget, among other outlets.
