Guenther Fielmann

Günther Fielmann is the founder, majority shareholder and chief executive officer of Fielmann AG, a German optics company focusing on retail eyewear.

  • Guenther Fielmann is the founder and CEO of eyeglasses giant Fielmann AG; his family controls almost 72% of its shares.
  • He opened his first optometry shop in Cuxhaven, Germany, in 1972, and took the company public in 1994.
  • Fielmann AG sells nearly half the prescription eyeglasses in Germany, and also has outlets in Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Netherlands and Poland.
  • In January 2016, son Marc, who studied at the London School of Economics, joined the company’s management board. In April 2018, he became co-CEO.
