Chen Yung-Tai
Chen got his start selling office clocks in 1965. He later expanded into office equipment, furniture and electronics.
Today his publicly traded Aurora Group sells electronics in more than 1,500 locations in Taiwan and across mainland China.
Aurora also owns real estate, including a 38-story tower, in Shanghai’s Lujiazui financial district.
Chen studied economics in college. That department is now part of National Taipei University.
