University Utara Malaysia (UUM) was founded under the Universiti Utara Malaysia Order (Statutory) 1984, dated 16 February 1984.UUM is the largest Management University with the biggest numbers of staff with management qualifications. There are 14 schools under three main academic colleges, namely UUM COB (College of Business), UUM CAS (College of Arts and Sciences) and UUM COLGIS (College of Law, Government and International Studies). Specifically the COB consist of five different focus of schools, CAS also consist of five schools and the other college that is COLGIS, consist of four schools.Another milestone development was the establishment of three new graduate schools, namely the Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate School of Business (OYA-GSB), the Awang Had Salleh Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (AHS-GS), and the Ghazali Shafie Graduate School of Government (GSGS). In conclusion, The UUM Strategic Plan has become the primary source of reference for all centers of authority when organizing their respective activities. All these are towards achieving UUM’s vision – To become an Eminent Management University.

To be a consistently pre-eminent centre of academic excellence in teaching and learning, research, consultancy, and publication in the field of management, and, at the same time, to bring forth highly competent human capital that is committed to serving in the development of the nation and all humanity.
