Universite Grenoble Alpes
Spanning the entire alpine corridor, Universite Grenoble Alpes (UGA) brings together higher education and research establishments. Three institutions –Joseph Fourier University, Pierre Mendes-France University and Stendhal University– officially merged on January 1, 2016. UGA is a comprehensive, global university, offering academic programs and supporting research in Science, Technology and Health Sciences; Law, Economics and Business; Humanities and Social Sciences; Arts, Literature and Languages; Sports Sciences and Physical Education. International relations have pride of place in our global university, which has a diverse and growing network of partnerships, which allows receiving more than 6,000 foreign students every year. Our academic programs are designed to provide the necessary skills for those who wish to meet the challenges of today`s world or to compete in the international job market. Innovation and excellence also enrich our world-class research in an exceptional scientific environment with strong ties to business and industry.
The Universite Grenoble Alpes brings together 24 faculties, institutes and schools, 80 laboratories, 5,500 staff and 45,000 students. Thanks to the coordination of all our resources, today we are able to launch a process to construct a strong and ambitious university. Our research, grouped into six interdisciplinary centres, is adapted to be on the cutting edge of innovation. The courses offered, divided into four domains, cover all disciplinary fields. The growing interdependence between countries and between the different parts of each society poses a significant challenge to today`s universities. They must be at the heart of this change. By reinforcing the link between education and research on the one hand, and by boosting interactions between education and research and the socio-economic and cultural world on the other hand, the Universite Grenoble Alpes supports openness, interdisciplinarity and innovation. These are essential ingredients for a range of high-quality courses and leading scientific research.
