The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong is a stock exchange based in Hong Kong. It is Asia’s third-largest in terms of market capitalization behind the Tokyo Stock Exchange and Shanghai Stock Exchange, and the fourth single largest stock market in the world. 

Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Ltd. is a holding company, which engages in operating the stock exchange, futures exchange and clearing houses. It operates its business through five segments: Cash, Equity & Financial Derivatives, Commodities, Clearing and Platform & Infrastructure. The Cash segment covers all equity products traded on the cash market platforms, sales of market data relating to these products and other related activities. The Equity & Financial Derivatives segment refers to derivatives products traded on Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited and the stock exchange and other related activities. The Commodities segment refers to the operations of LME, which operates an exchange in the UK for the trading of base metals futures and options contracts. The Clearing segment refers to the operations of the four clearing houses, namely HKSCC, SEOCH, HKCC and OTC Clear, which are responsible for clearing, settlement and custodian activities of the stock exchange and the futures exchange, clearing over-the-counter derivatives contracts and the development and operations of the new clearing house for clearing base metals futures and options contracts traded on LME. The Platform & Infrastructure segment refers to all services in connection with providing users with access to the platform and infrastructure of the Group. The company was founded on July 8, 1999 and is headquartered in Hong Kong.
