Renmin University of China

Located in Beijing, Renmin University of China (RUC) is a key comprehensive and research-orientated university, and also the most prestigious university in the humanities and social sciences in China. RUC is the first modern university established by the newly founded People’s Republic of China in 1950. As of December 2010, RUC has a faculty of 1,827 which includes 510 professors and 625 associate professors. The total number of students is over 23,999, among whom 2,081 are foreign students from 80 countries. RUC provides 65 undergraduate programs, 158 master degree programs and 104 Ph. D programs. According to the Ministry of Education, RUC has 8 key national main disciplines, 8 key national secondary disciplines and 13 key research bases for humanities and social sciences which is more than any other university in the nation. In addition, seven disciplines at RUC, namely Theoretical Economics, Applied Economics, Law, Political Science, Sociology, Journalism and Communication, and Marxism Studies, rank No.1 among all universities in China.
