NED University of Engineering and Technology

The NED University of Engineering and Technology is the oldest institution now in Pakistan for teaching and turning out Graduate Engineers. The University was established in March 1977 under the act of Provincial Assembly of Sindh on up gradation of the former NED Government Engineering College, Karachi. From the historical point of view, therefore, the university is fairly young. However, the NED Government Engineering College which originally formed the nucleus of the university structure was set up in 1922 and is the oldest engineering institution in Pakistan. Starting with an enrolment of 50 students in Civil Engineering more than eight decades ago, the student population in the campus today has gone up to around 7000 at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. This university presently offers undergraduate programmes in nineteen (19) Engineering disciplines along with one each in Architecture and Information Technology. It is also presently offering twenty-seven (27) Masters level Postgraduate programmes: this number is also increasing each year. At present, the programmes for Doctoral studies are restricted to faculty Members; this university is implementing its wide-ranging Development Programme.

NED University of Engineering and Technology believes in establishing environment conducive to continual improvement in its efforts for providing the highest level of quality education.
