Middle East Technical University
Middle East Technical University (METU), founded in 1956, is an international research university which seeks excellence in serving the country, region and the world. METU hosts academic departments in the fields of engineering, natural sciences, social-administrative sciences, architecture, and education which are preferred by the most outstanding students in Turkey. METU strives to maintain a high standard of education by international standards and strongly committed to quality culture. The medium of instruction is English at all levels. All of its engineering programs are accredited by ABET. METU is the leading university in Turkey in terms of international research projects and the amount of funds generated from research activities. The income from research funds and the industry covers 1/3 of its total annual expenditures. METU Technopolis, the first technology development area in Turkey is among the first 20 technoparks in the world.
The mission of the Middle East Technical University is to reach, produce, apply and promote knowledge, and to educate individuals with that knowledge for the social, cultural, economic, scientific and technological development of our society and humanity. This is to be done by bringing teaching, research and social services up to universal standards.
