Grupo Carso
Grupo Carso or Grupo Sanborns SAB is a Mexican global conglomerate company owned by Carlos Slim. It was formed in 1990 after the merger of Corporación Industrial Carso and Grupo Inbursa. The name Carso stands for Carlos Slim and Soumaya Domit de Slim, his late wife.
Grupo Carso SAB de CV is a holding company, which engages in the retail, industrial, and construction business. It operates through the following segments: Industrial, Retail, and Infrastructure and Construction segment. The Industrial segment manufactures telecommunications, construction, electrical, energy, automotive, and mining products. The Retail segment operates retail outlets such as department stores, boutiques, specialty stores, convenience stores, restaurants, luxury department stores, and electronics and software stores.
