Fox News is an American conservative cable television news channel. It is owned by the Fox News Group, which itself was owned by News Corporation from 1996–2013, 21st Century Fox from 2013–2019, and Fox Corporation since 2019.
Fox News is the dominant cable news network with the most viewers for 17 straight years. The U.S. presidential election pushed ratings up 36% in 2016 and tops among all networks, besting previous No. 1 ESPN. It repeated as the top network each of the past two years as President Trump continues to be good business for his favorite network. Primetime ratings were nearly 40% higher than those at ESPN last year. “Hannity” finished 2018 as the most-watched cable news program, averaging 3.3 million viewers. However, the network’s controversial content from hosts like Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham and Jeanine Pirro has led to ad boycotts. Fox News appointed a new CEO last year in Suzanne Scott, marking the first time a woman has run the cable news network.
