Amphenol Corporation is a major producer of electronic and fiber optic connectors, cable and interconnect systems such as coaxial cables. Amphenol is a portmanteau from the corporation’s original name, American Phenolic Corp.

Amphenol Corp. manufactures interconnect products. It designs, manufactures and markets electrical, electronic and fiber optic connectors, coaxial and flat-ribbon cable and interconnect systems. The company operates through two business segments: Interconnect Products & Assemblies and Cable Products & Solutions. The Interconnect Products and Assemblies segment designs, manufacturers and market a broad range of connector and connector systems, value-add products and other products, including antennas and sensors, used in a broad range of applications in a diverse set of end markets. The Cable Products and Solutions segment designs, manufacturers and markets cable, value-added products and components for use primarily in the broadband communications and information technology markets as well as certain applications in other markets. Its target markets include automotive, broadbrand, industrial, IT and datacom, medical, military and aerospace mobile devices and network industries. Amphenol was founded by Schmitt J. Arthur in 1932 and is headquartered in Wallingford, CT.
