With four campuses across Northern Ireland, Ulster is embedded in every aspect of the region?s life and work. Established by Royal Charter in 1984, it can trace roots back to the Victorian era ? the Belfast School of Design(1849)and Magee College in Derry~Londonderry(1865)are both founding constituent parts of the modern institution. At Coleraine campus, course provision is broad ? biomedical sciences, environmental science and geography, psychology, business, the humanities and languages, film and journalism, travel and tourism, teacher training and computing are particular strengths. The Belfast campus provision spans an increasing and exciting range of subjects including architecture, hospitality, Irish language, event management, photography and digital animation. Magee campus teaching strengths include business, computing, nursing, Irish language and literature, social sciences, law, psychology, peace and conflict studies and the performing arts. Jordanstown campus has a strong profile in engineering, social sciences, business, communication and academic disciplines relating to the science and coaching of sport. A diverse and modern institution with over 25,000 students and 3,000 staff, Ulster has ambitious future plans,most notably Belfast City campus (to open 2018), accommodating students and staff currently based in Belfast and Jordanstown in a stunning 21st century building. Expansion is also planned at Magee with a new site earmarked for future development.

In delivering our vision, our focus is on two primary and integated goals: Excellent, Accessible Teaching and Learning (to deliver high quality, flexible, student-centred programmes of study that are intellectually challenging and which provide our students with opportunities to develop their knowledge, skills and confidence); and Focused Research Excellence and Innovation (to advance knowledge by achieving international excellence in chosen areas of research and to transfer knowledge in support of economic, social and cultural development); delivered within the context of: A well-led, healthy working and learning environment (through effective, distributive leadership and management, to provide a supportive, inclusive and financially sustainable working and learning environment and physical infrastruture).
