Michael Rubin

Michael G. Rubin is an American businessman. He is the chief executive officer of Kynetic, a direct-to-consumer e-commerce company he founded in 2011.

• Michael Rubin is the majority owner and CEO of Kynetic, a holding company for e-commerce retailers Fanatics, Rue La La and ShopRunner.
• His flash-sales site, Rue La La, acquired longtime rival Gilt Groupe for under $100 million in June 2018.
• After dropping out of Villanova University, Rubin started GSI Commerce, which he sold to eBay for $2.4 billion in 2011.
• As part of the deal he paid $500 million for majority ownership of three assets eBay didn’t want: Fanatics, Rue La La and ShopRunner.
• While Rubin’s primary residence is in Bryn Mawr, PA, he bought a penthouse in Manhattan for $43.5 million in 2018.
• In 2019, he and rapper Meek Mill launched a criminal justice initiative called Reform Alliance.
