Beijing Institute of Technology
Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), originally named the Academy of Natural Sciences, is an open, public, research-oriented university with a focus on science and technology. It is the 10th university approved to enter the national ?985 Project? which aims to develop world class and renowned universities in China, and receives considerable trilateral supports and endowments under the agreement signed by Ministry of Education, the Commission of Science, Technology & Industry for National Defense, and Beijing Municipal Government in September 2000. BIT is now under the supervision of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. BIT offers 60 undergraduate programs, 144 graduate programs, 61 doctoral programs and 19 postdoctoral programs. Over the past 30 years, BIT has received more than 120 national awards of scientific research, ranking among the top 10 universities in China. Till October 2010, BIT has established collaborative ties with around 140 universities from 43 countries and regions in the world. BIT receives about 400 international students for degrees and language every year, and they come from around 40 countries and regions.
