Teh Hong Piow
Teh Hong Piow is the founder and Chairman of Public Bank Berhad in Malaysia. Teh is one of three individuals in Malaysia who are permitted to hold a stake of more than 10% in a domestic financial institution.
- For decades Teh Hong Piow chaired Malaysian banking behemoth Public Bank, which he started in 1966.
- He officially retired from Public Bank as non-executive chairman on Jan. 1, 2019. Deputy Chairman Lai Wan took over as chairman.
- In addition to Malaysians, the bank serves millions of customers across Hong Kong, China, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Sri Lanka.
- Teh still owns nearly a fourth of the bank as well as 44% of insurance business LPI Capital.
