Rahul Bhatia

Rahul Bhatia is an Indian businessman and co-founder and non-executive director of low-cost carrier IndiGo and Group managing director of InterGlobe Enterprises. IndiGo airlines commenced operations in 4 August 2006 and had its Initial Public Offering in October 2015. 

  • Father and son Kapil & Rahul Bhatia get the bulk of their wealth from InterGlobe Aviation, which owns budget carrier IndiGo, India’s biggest airline.
  • IndiGo, which was cofounded with billionaire airline veteran Rakesh Gangwal in 2006, has a 47% domestic market share.
  • Today it has a fleet of 243 aircraft and flies to 82 destinations, including 22 overseas.
  • In January 2019, IndiGo announced that airline veteran Ronojoy Dutta, a former president of United Airlines, would be the new CEO.
