Metropolitan Autonomous University

Autonomous Metropolitan University (UAM) is a public Institution with 40 years of experience and is one of the leading universities in Mexico. It offers 76 undergraduate and 91 Postgraduate programs and has over 55,967 students. It is composed of five independent campuses: Azcapotzalco, Cuajimalpa, Iztapalapa, Lerma and Xochimilco; four are strategically distributed in Mexico city, and one is in the State of Mexico divided into six academic divisions: Basic sciences and engineering, Biological sciences and health, Social sciences and humanities, Science and art for design, Communication and design, and Natural sciences Our academic model is innovative, flexible, at the vanguard of higher education and strongly linked to our social environment. The academic staff is the most solid of the country, we have over 3,057 academics with a lecture-research profile, 88% are full-time and 87% have postgraduate degrees. With more than 180 areas of research in 58 Departments, the UAM contributes to the development of Mexico with multidisciplinary projects at a national and international level, tackling with the most diverse needs generated by the development of the country and its incorporation into the globalization processes. It promotes student and academic mobility and exchanged programs it also joins into research projects with more than 397 higher education institutions as national and international research centers as well in order to strength the academic networks.

Among the UAM`s fundamental objectives, the following are emphasized: To turn out bachelor and postgraduate level professionals with a solid academic background, an ample spectrum of skill, and a modern vision of their chosen field, thus enabling them to respond adequately to society`s changing needs. To take part in the solution of national problems through the development of basis and applied research in the fields of science, technology, arts and humanities. To carry out activities that promotes cultural preservation and diffusion.
