Gazi University

Foundation of Gazi University (GU) is Teacher Training Institute, which was established in 1926 to educate the intellectual teachers of Republic of Turkey

In 1982 with the Act numbered 2809 this institute, together with Ankara College of Technical Teachers, Ankara Girls College of Technical Teachers founded in 1935, Ankara Academy of Economy and Commerce founded in 1952 and Ankara Academy of Engineering and Architecture founded in 1973, formed GU. Today our university has 21 faculties, 1 State Conservatory of Turkish Music, 6 institutes, 4 colleges, 10 vocational colleges and 47 research centers that carry out educational and research activities. In GU, education is provided in the fields of education, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, engineering, architecture, economics and administrative sciences, communication, natural sciences, humanities, law and fine arts. In addition to the students coming from all around the country, GU is one of the most renowned universities abroad with over 1100 foreign students from other nations including the Turkic states and their communities. Having eight campuses in different parts of Ankara, GU shows the degree of importance it gives to education. With more than 76000 students and 4000 academic staff, GU keeps up with the world average in terms of students per academic staff.
